Looking at the bigger picture! At tavisca, we believe that Corporate Social Responsibility transcends the programmatic boundaries, and reflects the values and philosophies embedded in an organization. Through our CSR activities, we believe in meaningfully nurture a liveable and sustainable society.
Our commitment to the social responsibility gets reflected in our actions aimed to positively impact marginalized communities and the vulnerable environment around us. Aligned with our CSR goals, Prayas was established in 2011 as our CSR arm. Through Prayas, we focus on initiatives that contribute towards the social and economic advancement of society.
Soon after our inception, we strived to create positive experiences and environments to aid the underprivileged. We appreciate the complexities involved in the betterment of society. Nevertheless, we did attempt to build a sustainable way of life for weaker sections of the society through various activities. In the initial years of inception, we organized a day trip for the underprivileged children and women from ‘Maher Ashram’.
We cherish some of our CSR activities, which included:
- Visiting the Deep Griha Society in August 2015, where we celebrated children’s birthday and distributed story books as gifts for them. The Deep Griha Society is an NGO dedicated to people living in the slums and rural areas of Pune.
- Financial aid for Pets Force , an Animal Rescue Centre in August 2016.The dogs at the center were not getting clean drinking water supply due to rains and this was causing the infections. tavisca gave them a water tank and few small buckets to help pets drink hygienic water.
- An engaging Wish Tree Activity for the NGO Actionaid in September 2016, where the team joined in fulfilling wishes of Children and sponsoring their education
From spreading awareness to becoming an enabler for positivity in the society – Prayas has truly covered a significant distance!
Recent Prayas Activities
In the past few months, our CSR activities have brought in significant change by impacting many lives. Prayas was involved in several activities. Here’s a brief snapshot of some of our CSR initiatives:
- Old Clothes Donation Drive at tavisca
We joined hands with SWaCH (Solid Waste Collection and Handling or, officially, SWaCH Seva Sahakari Sanstha Maryadit, Pune), which is India’s first wholly-owned cooperative of self-employed waste pickers or waste collectors and other urban poor. Under their SWaCH Plus program, they have ‘V – collect’ events, where they collect clothes.
We conducted an Old Clothes Drive for two weeks, and kept donation boxes in the common office area. Our generous team members enthusiastically contributed clean, usable and ironed clothes, which were sorted out according to size/ age/ gender/ style and given to waste pickers and other urban poor.
By doing our bit, we experienced the joy of giving. It was an unforgettable life-changing experience for us, and we look forward to conducting similar drives in future.
- Shreevatsa Child Care Centre Visit
On March 24, 2017, the Prayas team paid a visit to ‘Shreevatsa’ – a special child care center run by SOFOSH (Society of Friends of Sassoon Hospital).
Since its inception in 1973, the center has been catering to the needs of abandoned, orphaned little ones from our society. Babies relinquished by their single birth mothers are also offered shelter under this roof. Thus Shreevatsa offers a loving home and hopes to family deprived children of the age of newborn to 6 years.
During our visit, we interacted with the little ones as they sang, danced and had fun bursting balloons. Though we had gone to brighten their day and bring a smile on their faces, we ended up with a cheerful smile on ours.
We visited the entire facility. We felt Shreevatsa was maintained beautifully, and they had taken special care to cater to every small need of the children. There were special toys for different age groups so kids could develop fine motor skills. They ensured timely feeding, daily medical check-up, learning & development, washroom etiquette, etc.
The children were looked after really well and provided with healthy and nutritious food. They were also provided with additional supplements whenever required, to combat malnutrition. The Institution was responsible for the medical needs of each and every child.
In order to help the Institution fulfill their needs, tavisca donated an urgent supply of one month’s medicines as per their urgent need. We would cherish the memories of our interactions with the kids forever.
- Partnering with Robin Hood Army for #Mission1Million
We joined forces with the Robin Hood Army in Pune to distribute surplus food from restaurants across to the less fortunate people. 1 Lakh hungry people were to be fed on our 71st Independence Day as a part of their Mission1Million
The Robin Hood Army is a volunteer-based organization that works to get surplus food from restaurants and eateries to the less fortunate people.
Our team was highly excited about this event, and we assembled at their four centers in Pune – Kharadi, Bibewadi, Kothrud and Wakad. With a goal of spreading smiles and fighting hunger, our volunteers served food to hungry citizens, with a warm smile.
Together, we also contributed towards arranging supplies, so that the Robin Hood Army could reach its goal. It was an amazing experience and the joy of sharing was reflected on the happy faces of our generous team that loved being a part of this event in every way.
As we look back, we realize how far we’ve come and we hope to scale greater heights together. We foresee a bright future ahead, and cannot wait to attain our CSR goals together!
